Front of House Manager
Appointed October 2021
During her MA in French and Spanish at the University of Glasgow, Ally discovered her love for the arts as a part-time usher during Edinburgh Fringe and at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal. She began working as a freelance events professional at festivals and theatres in the UK, Spain, and Australia. Ally has worked for Edinburgh’s Fringe and Edinburgh’s Christmas and Hogmanay for five years. Most recently, she managed the Circus Hub at Edinburgh Fringe and was delighted to then be asked to lead The Loony Dook at South Queensferry which she organised and a new project, Community Christmas – which ran for twelves nights at locations throughout Edinburgh.
In 2019, Ally was appointed Front of House Manager for RCC, one of the largest venue groups at Adelaide Fringe in Australia, to help bring together a programme of music, circus, and theatre. For the past three years, Ally has worked for 57 Festivals, who produce some of the country’s biggest stand-up events including Greenwich Comedy Festivals which draws an audience of 15,000 people. Earlier this year, as Venue Manager, Ally played a crucial role in launching The Electric Arcade in Brighton.
Ally pursues her passion for the arts outside of work, attending performances whenever possible. Throughout university, Ally was very involved in the Dance Society, teaching Highland Dancing and she still enjoys taking dance classes in her free time. Ally is thrilled to be joining the brilliant team at Lanternhouse and to be returning home to the Scottish Arts scene.
