Stand-up Comedy
Have a great Saturday night out with our Lanternhouse Laughs, in association with Gilded Balloon, one of Scotland’s leading and best-loved comedy production companies!
Our first Lanternhouse Laughs night is compèred by the star of BBC’s Scot Squad and award-winning comedian, Chris Forbes, one of the most in demand comics in Scotland. As well as being a regular on the UK comedy circuit, Forbes has gigged all over the world and supported Kevin Bridges on tour.
An amazing comedian

And what a line up we have in store too:
Kathleen Hughes is a Glaswegian comedian who began performing stand-up in January 2020, acknowledged as possibly the worst time to become a comedian. Her writing has been featured on BBC Radio Scotland’s Breaking the News and BBC Radio 4’s Newsjack.
Rae Brogan is also a new act now based in Glasgow. Hailing from London, she has had to rely on her incisive humour and dynamic delivery to distract the Scots from her unfortunate accent.
Headlining tonight’s Lanternhouse Laughs is Cumbernauld’s very own Stu Who?
Stu hit the comedy scene in 1988, giving up working as a warden in a YMCA hostel for ‘troubled boys’ in order to try and make perfect strangers laugh! In the very same year he went on to win “The Spirit of Mayfest” at Glasgow’s annual Arts Festival and made his first performance on television. Since then Stu has worked the length and breadth of the country, notched up plenty of television, radio and writing credits and has performed his stand-up as far afield as Australia!
Doors open at 7.30pm, starts at 8.00pm
Suitable for: 18+
Please note: due to a delay in the completion of the essential works required in the cafe and bar area at Lanternhouse, our venue licence to sell alcohol has been delayed.
Whilst we are hopeful that this will be resolved shortly, the temporary licence to sell alcohol for this event has not yet been approved, and so we will be serving an assortment of non-alcoholic drinks as an alternative.
