Lanternhouse Laughs – Amy Mathews, Raymond Mearns

Stand-up Comedy

Each of our Lanternhouse Laughs events is a unique comedy highlight in our calendar, hosted by its very own compère and featuring 3 hand-picked comedy-circuit favourites, guaranteeing to bring the (Lantern)house down!

The first of two Lanternhouse Laughs nights in July is compèred by Amy Matthews. One of the fastest rising stand up comedians in the UK, with her first year in comedy seeing a television appearance and a compering residency, Essex born Amy Matthews blends observational routines with offbeat whimsy, resigning to the absurdity of modern life.

And here’s the line-up:

Rosco McClelland is riding the Scottish comedy revival, hotly tipped as one of its brightest stars, with bags of potential and professional accolades that prove he is one to watch. Rosco’s gravelly and animated onstage presence and his naturally humorous delivery and surreal observations, generates continuous laughter from his audiences, making for a remarkable performance.  This is Rosco’s second appearance in our Lanternhouse Laughs comedy series.

Marc Jennings is one of the country’s brightest new comedic talents. Marc is a regular panellist and writer on BBC Scotland’s satirical news show Breaking the News and has appeared on the new stand-up television series The Comedy Underground (BBC Scotland).

Headlining tonight’s Lanternhouse Laughs is Raymond Mearns.
Raymond is perhaps best known for his appearances in Limmy’s Show and as an actor in the movies Ae Fond Kiss and It’s a Free World, both directed by legendary British film director Ken Loach.
