Stand-up Comedy
Have a great Saturday night out with our Lanternhouse Laughs, in association with Gilded Balloon, one of Scotland’s leading and best-loved comedy production companies!
Line-up:
* Please note that Jay Lafferty is no longer available and Scott Agnew will now compère.
Scott Agnew (Compère)
Scott Agnew is a Glaswegian critically acclaimed stand-up and compere performing around the UK and internationally. Considered one of the best storytellers in the business, Agnew is a former journalist with TV presenting credits (MTV, BBC Three, STV) and also radio appearances (BBC FiveLive, BBC Radio Scotland, Clyde 1, Galaxy FM) under his belt. The Scottish Comedian of the Year 2008 has entertained up and down the UK and internationally and is a regular headliner for the likes of Jongleurs, Highlight, The Stand and The Comedy Club as well as hosting in front of 8000 at Glasgow’s Gay Pride march in 2012.
Paul McDaniel
Paul McDaniel is a Northern Irish comedian so funny that during one of his sets a promoter laughed so much she feared she would go into labour. A regular performer at Glasgow and Edinburgh’s top comedy nights, he has honed a distinct act that is always surreal and often just plain bonkers. Tipped by Wow 24/7 as “one of the most underrated acts on the Scottish circuit”, Paul has shared the bill with comedy greats such as Frankie Boyle, Fred Macaulay and Michael Redmond, and is a member of the award-winning cult sketch group CHUNKS and its Saturday night offshoot STITCHES.
* Please note that Susan Riddell and Paul McDaniel have swapped – Paul performs tonight and Susan in February.
Daniel Petrie
Daniel Petrie is a 23-year-old student from Glasgow who enjoys long walks on the beach and talking about himself in the 3rd person. In 2022 he made it to the final of the So You Think You’re Funny? Competition. He applied to SYTYF because he’s always wanted to be on Wikipedia and decided this would be easier than committing a high-profile crime.
Gary Little (Headliner)
Gary Little is one of the most consistent and funny acts in Scottish comedy. He is recognised as a master storyteller, and is a regular headliner at many of the top comedy clubs in the UK.
A regular at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, his 2013 and 2014 shows were the fastest selling shows in the programme, requiring an unprecedented 4 additional nights added to the run, due to overwhelming demand. 2015 and 2016 seen Gary selling out again. 2014-2016 also seen Gary playing to sold out rooms with his solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival.
