Each of our Lanternhouse Laughs events is a unique comedy highlight in our calendar, hosted by its very own compère and featuring three hand-picked comedy-circuit favourites, guaranteeing to bring the (Lantern)house down!
Compère Jay Lafferty has worked all over the UK as well as performing in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Reykjavik and Amsterdam. An experienced compere and stand-up, she has an easy manner on stage, instantly connecting with her audience – whether a rowdy group of stags and hens or a serene ladies luncheon. An experienced writer and performer, Jay has worked on several hit BBC Scotland and BBC Four radio shows. She is one of the longest-running panellists on Radio Scotland’s Breaking The News and has appeared on BBC’s Scot Squad.
Headliner: Award-winning stand-up Mark Nelson’s mix of dark humour, cutting observations and superb one-liners has seen him firmly established as one of the UK’s biggest-hitting comedy powerhouses. Widely recognised as a superb stand-up, including being frequently nominated and frequent winner of the annual Best Headliner gong at the annual Scottish Comedy Awards, Nelson has no gimmicks, relies on no frills—his work is just consistently top-quality comedy, pure unadulterated stand-up of the highest order.
Also joining the line-up will be Sam Lake and Amanda Hurst.
