Join us for soup, cake and a darkly comic Scots language story about a little boy’s bad day this February. Braw Clan, the award-winning Scots language theatre company based in Clydesdale, brings its popular community programme to Cumbernauld.

Here’s how it works:


1 Join us from 12pm-1.30pm
2 Enjoy a bowl of soup followed by tea, coffee and cakes
3 See a short performance of a Scots language story by acclaimed actor Martin Docherty
4 Have a chat about the story with Martin and other audience members

Martin Docherty’s credits include Black Hole SignCloud AtlasDear Green PlaceOne Night In EmergencyCase HistoriesOutlanderFilth and Country Music. The documentary Marty Goes to Hollywood was the winner of the BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award, and he recently starred in the smash hit show from  the National Theatre of Scotland and Tron Theatre, Moorcroft.


Martin will read The Saubbath by Robert McLellan – a true story that begins with Rab reluctantly walking to church in brown velvet breeks, a yellow blouse and a big straw hat, nearly 100 years ago.

Soup And A Story is supported by the William Grant Foundation.

All proceeds go towards supporting the future of Cumbernauld Theatre Trust.
