The Amazing Thing

Early Years Theatre

Lempen Puppet Theatre

One bright and sunny day, Peter Grimm finds a mysterious wooden box washed up on the shore. Inside is something strange. Something wild. Something that begins to twist and tangle the stories he thought he knew.

As the ‘amazing thing’ escapes, Peter is taken on an unexpected journey through a medley of well-known Brothers Grimm tales. Along the way, he discovers the magic of imagination and the untamed spirit at the heart of every story.

Told through puppetry, live music and performance, this is an inventive and joyful show for families and children aged 5 and over.

Peter Grimm is a descendent of the famous Brothers Grimm. He has inherited the tradition of his ancestors and tells the their stories as they were written down 200 years ago. But, with his inheritance also comes a ghost. The brothers locked something away in a box when they wrote down and fixed the stories. They threw the box into the sea, and now that something, that rogue and wild element of story, has returned with the tide. Peter opens the box and sets free the ‘amazing thing’ to add its influence in the sea of stories.
