Wee Man is a highly physical and dynamic dance-theatre performance work by award-winning Barrowland Ballet.
Performed by a cast of men and young male performers aged 14-18 years old, it celebrates and questions the shifting, and unshifting, rules of masculinity across the different generations. With candid humour, it examines the tension that exists within the toxic rulebook of accepted male behaviour, from the seemingly benign to the dangerous.
The troop holds
Cradles brotherhood
In calloused hands
Absorbs transgression
Forgives everything but individuality
Dismisses the traumatic
With a pat on the back
With an evocative sound score by Luke Sutherland and text created with Kevin P. Gilday.
