Cumbernauld Theatre is a producing theatre with a socially engaged focus that co-creates and produces several in-house production across the year. As a producing house, we regularly invite freelance directors, writers and theatre makers to respond to our call-outs for work.
These call outs will be based around creative briefs that have been created with our local community. All our opportunities and invitations for submissions are advertised on our Current Opportunities page here.
As a producing theatre we often work with new writers and scripts in development. However, we cannot accept scripts outwith the current opportunities advertised on our website.
We are a small, but committed team that believes in giving every submission the attention it deserves. In order to do this, we have to carefully balance the number of opportunities we offer with the capacity of the team. We also understand how much care, attention and energy that goes in to drafting, creating and submitting a script. We do not take this lightly and that is why we wish to be as transparent as possible about that any scripts we receive outside of our call outs will be returned, with thanks but unread.
We are always keen to hear from theatre makers, directors and creators who are interested in working with us at Cumbernauld Theatre on developing a new piece of work. However, similarly to script submissions, we will be as transparent as possible via our current opportunities page, as to when and how we may be able to do this.
Our intention is to openly recruit lead artists for each of our in-house productions, to create open calls for residencies and to provide transparent applications for in kind rehearsal space. Please keep an eye on our Current Opportunities page for more information.
