Polly Barlett from STV News visited Lanternhouse during Bold Girls rehearsals. Catch up on the programme to see some rehearsal footage and interviews ahead of our opening night tomorrow.
Katya Searle, playing Deirdre in Bold Girls said, “We spoke a lot in rehearsals about whether the play was still relevant and we quite quickly realised that it absolutely is and you could quite easily plonk it now and it would still totally make sense.”
Fraser Morrison, Creative Producer at Cumbernauld Theatre Trust said, “Cumbernauld Theatre was my first theatre experience ever and has always been at the heart of the community for the last almost sixty years here in Cumbernauld. So the fact that we have this brand new space which has just opened as a community hub with so much activity going on is really important.”
Our re-imagined production of the seminal Belfast-set play, directed by Michael Duke, will be staged from 24th September to 1st October. Bold Girls returns to the Cumbernauld stage more than 30 years since the original 7:84 Theatre production, which opened at our previous home at the Cottage Theatre in 1990 before touring to critical and audience acclaim.
Catch up on the broadcast here (starts from 16.37). The programme will be available to watch until 6.30pm on 23 September.

Led by Amanda Glover and Fraser Morrison, Operation: LEGACY is a community project, in which young writers, devisors and performers are invited to create a piece of performance work which will be showcased in our Main Auditorium. We will collaborate with a local composer/musician and a movement director to explore the wealth of storytelling possibilities which this topic brings to the table.
