As we prepare for our upcoming staging of The Events by David Greig, you can get involved in this excting collaboration with a professional cast and play a central role in the production.
The Events is a play about Claire, a priest, and her choir coming to terms with a violent incident in their community. This production will be a thrilling and theatrical new staging of a modern classic, exploring themes of resilience, empathy and the power of community in times of tragedy.
The Community Choir plays a central role in the story of the play and the staging. The choir will not only perform songs in the show but also work closely with the professional actors to bring the play to life. Whilst the play explores some darker themes, it is ultimately a hopeful piece and the rehearsal process will be rooted in joy and collaboration.
The choir process will be led by Clare Haworth, a professional choir leader with years of experience. Other key members of the team who will work closely with the choir are Director Jack Nurse, Composer Gary Cameron and Creative Producer Fraser Morrison.
Rehearsals will take place weekly on a Wednesday evenings between 6-8pm in Cumbernauld Theatre at Lanternhouse starting on 26 June. Additional rehearsals will be added closer to the performance on Saturday 7, 14 and 21 September from 11am – 4pm. The Choir will be required for evening calls the week beginning 23 September for technical and dress rehearsals ahead of the opening performance, with timings to be confirmed closer to the dates.
